Garden Update

I thought I would do a garden update as I have not posted an update in a while. Our garden has been producing well for us this year. Well everything but our lettuce crop. The lettuce just doesn’t want to grow for some reason. We usually have a bumper crop of lettuce to share with all of our neighbors but not this year.

I have been harvesting cucumbers and making refrigerator pickles (recipes coming soon). We have been harvesting green beans each day and our first tomato is almost ready to be picked. We are supposed to have two over 100 degree days later this week so that should help the tomatoes ripen. We have also gotten a few zucchini off our plants. I am hoping this fall to be able to harvest the beets we planted. We are growing golden beets this year. Our green onions are getting bigger. I am also trying to grow broccoli for the first time this year.

Here are some pictures of our garden now.

Do you have any vegetables you are growing this year?

  1. You have such a beautiful garden! I wish I was your neighbor so I could be one of the recipients of your extras 🙂

I saw a recipe for refridgerator pickles last week and planned to buy pickling cucumbers at the farmer’s market, but they didn’t have any. I ended up buying some at the grocery store, but forgot the dill, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to get some tomorrow so we can make our pickles.

    1. I made some refrigerator pickles recently and I am hoping to get a post up soon with a recipe.

  2. GREAT garden…you have alot going on! 🙂 I have been finally getting some decent tomatoes…oh they are so tasty 🙂

    1. Our tomatoes seem so slow but now we have a few which is so nice. They are so much better tasting than the tomatoes at the store.
