October is the start of cooler weather and comfort foods but it’s also a great time to stock up on a few items for next summer and to stock your holiday baking supplies too. You can also find a few other deals on items you might be looking for.
What to Stock Up on in October
Halloween
This month will be a good month for sales on not only candy but for all things related to Halloween. The deals should be plentiful on costumes, Halloween decorations, and of course Halloween candy.
If you have candy you like to use in your holiday baking now would be the time to grab extra while it’s on sale.
Baking items
October starts the last three months of the year and the start of the holiday season. It’s time to start thinking about making your Thanksgiving meal and Christmas dinner along with all those delicious Christmas goodies too.
You can stock up now on those baking items you’ll need and save. Most baking items have a fairly long shelf life and will keep without any problems until you are ready to start your holiday baking.
Cold/ Flu Medicine
Cold and flu season is sure to be starting soon. Be sure to stock up on the medication before you need it.
This month there should be good sales and coupons to match those sales so you can be prepared for this winter’s cold and flu season.
Daylight Saving Time Changes
In October we fall back and it’s also the time we are reminded to check our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors too. You should find good deals on batteries, smoke detectors, and other items related to this time change.
Jeans
October is a good month to find deals on jeans. The weather is getting cooler and with the back to school sales done, there’s lots of jeans leftover. Grab a few pairs of jeans while they are on sale.
It would be a great time to grab a few pair of extra jeans for the kids for Christmas presents too.

With summer being over and the main camping season done, this month will be a good time to stock up on the camping gear you want for next season. Look for deals on tents, sleeping bags, camp stoves, and other camping gear.
Summer Items
The last push to get rid of those summer items like air conditioners, patio furniture, gas grills, leftover summer clothing, and basically anything related to summer should be on sale at good prices.
Columbus Day Sales
This weekend can be a great time to shop department stores for good discounts on lots of items like clothing and home good. Also be on the lookout for nonfood Halloween items to be on sale.
New Cars
This year’s models of cars will need to be cleared out because the new year’s cars are coming in this month.
If you are looking to buy a brand new car, the last three months of the year are a great time to find a good deal.
Seasonal Produce
This month should be a good month to find deals on almonds, apples, pears, broccoli, cauliflower, cranberries, melons, peaches, yams, potatoes, parsnips, pumpkins, and lemons.
