FFH 002: How I Save on Groceries and How You Can Too

I have one thing I do that helps me to save over $200 a month on groceries. It’s not using coupons, although I do use coupons some. I’m sharing what it is I do that saves me the most money in this week’s Frugal Family Home podcast.

Want to save more at the grocery store? You can save a bunch of money by knowing at what price to purchase an item. I save the most by taking advantage of the deals when I see them and stocking up. But if you don’t know what the best price is for your area, how will you know when to stock up? That’s where this one little thing I do comes in. I share my secret to cutting your grocery bill in this episode of the Frugal Family Home podcast.

  1. Thanks for sharing, Shelly. I think a price book is a great idea. I’m sure it helps you not only know the best prices but also see patterns.

By the way, I saw your scope on Katch yesterday, and that was a great tip about the celery! 🙂

    1. I know for me the price book really does help me save quite a bit.

Thanks for watching the scope. I just couldn’t believe it when I realized how much more the regular bunch of celery would cost. I’m hoping to do more scopes like that one to share tips on saving at the grocery store on real food items since those are the items that don’t usually have coupons.

  2. What a great idea for keeping your grocery bill under control! I know that when I have to buy something on an off-sale week, I feel irritated, because I know that I could have gotten it at a cheaper price when it was on sale. I think I could fix that problem by keeping a price book. Thanks for the suggestion!

    1. I’m like you I hate to pay more than I have to for an item we need.

  3. Great tips! I don’t hardly use coupons ever because they are not normally what I am buying. I think that is why they make coupons. They are for those that are brand loyal and to make people think they are getting a great deal so they buy them. I don’t buy unnecessary items, I buy what we need.

    1. Thanks, Stacy! I use coupons sparingly for the same reasons you mentioned.
